I spent yesterday at Kyogle High School running a Corporate Health Day.
Whether I'm talking to just one woman, small or large groups; at the end of the day, it's not about the numbers, it's about the message.
Unfortunately, there are so many women who are either unaware of ways to improve their health and wellness, or they are being given the wrong information that eventually will be detrimental to their overall wellness - whether that's physical, emotional or mental.
So that's where we step in! I spent the entire day with a group of 16 women who were all willing to listen, learn and be educated into their health.
Lead by their team leader, Virginia, this team of women were fantastic. The stress that we, as women, put on ourselves is huge! Balancing out work vs home life is a challenge on a day to day basis. Simple organisation is not even thought of (you can imagine their faces when I told them some of my routine and schedules!). This is how we get stressed.
We spent what was most of the morning working on strategies to balance out the stress of home v work; their nutrition and prioritising their family so they can put themselves at the top of the ladder! If we are right, then the rest of our life and family will run smoother.
After a few hours indoors, it was time to get physical! Apprehensive at the beginning for some, eager to learn some different forms of exercise was exciting for others. Now from past experiences, I knew that the quieter more apprehensive ladies were the ones who would unleash a demon within! More laughter than anything else was the order of the next hour - and that's awesome. If you can laugh and have fun and enjoy the exercises you are doing, chances are you'll do it again.
Finishing off our activities with some fun games, took us all back to the playground and our childhood which is always entertaining (for me!) and good fun for the ladies.
The afternoon was all about what happens from the inside out. As women, we are often way too focussed about the outside of our body and what it looks like, but what's really important is what we are doing (or not doing) to the inside.
A great day was completed with an amazing form of meditation. We close the curtains, turn out the lights and it began. As I sat and watched these 16 women start quite tense as they were unaware, and then after 10 minutes accept what was happening and then allow their body to embrace the relaxation of their mind, body and soul. Let go of their emotional stressors and let their bodies go on an amazing journey. This is where it got quite emotional for me. I saw at that time, these women were putting themselves first. This was about them. It was just for them - and that's really cool.
I thank the women of Kyogle High School for their warmth and honesty. A fantastic group of women who were willing to learn and absorb as much information as they could to making their health and wellbeing for the better. I thank you for inviting us into your community and your lives and giving you the right tools and information to make your life even better than it is.
